Did you know that curling is Saskatchewan’s provincial sport?
We may be a small province but Saskatchewan has produced many professional hockey players. Located just a short drive from Regina, in the town of Wilcox, is the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame which not only has a strong academic program but the athletic program is top notch. Many of the hockey graduates have gone on to play in the WHL, NHL, and top universities.
Regina is also home to the Regina Pats WHL team. There are also many programs for kids to adults to play recreational hockey, competitive hockey, 3 on 3, and much more. In the winter there are several outdoor rinks throughout the city where you can hit the ice as a family.
Regina is home to the beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders and it is said that Saskatchewan Bleeds Green. On game day you will see a sea of green at Mosaic Stadium and the game is likely to be on wherever there is a TV. Want more football - you can also catch the Regina Thunder of the Prairie Conference of the Canadian Junior Football League and the University of Regina Rams.
You will find three leisure centres in Regina filled with activities for the whole family. The Sandra Schmirler leisure center located in East Regina has a large outdoor spray pad and is a hot spot for swimming lessons. The North West leisure centre has an ice rink, and pool and the Sportplex, located near downtown, has an indoor track, pool, and offers a variety of fitness programs.
