Community Events in Regina this June 2019

The temperatures are heating up and the end of another school year is in sight.  There is also no shortage of things happening in and around Regina this June.

Event Highlight - Supper in the Orchard

When: Every Friday and Saturday until October 13th.

Where: Over the Hills Orchard and Winery in Lumsden

Price: The Supper costs $70/person. Individual glasses of wine (5 oz glass) is $6, and non-alcoholic beverages (Cherry Spritzer/Coffee) are available for $3.50.  The wine pairing option (Each course is paired with 2oz of one of our wines) is $25.

 We have partnered with the Culinary Federation of Regina, to hold suppers here in the orchard! Every Friday and Saturday, starting May 5th, a different local chef will create a multi-course supper using mainly ingredients from local farms and our orchard.  Most of the proceeds goes back to the Culinary Federation which sends their members to locations around the world for training and for competitions.

 Concerts and Performances in Regina

(June 1-30) Disney’s Beauty and The Beast.  Relive the magic of this Disney favourite live on stage.  1 -2 shows per day, except on Mondays.  (Globe Theatre).

 (June 1)  Into the Great Wide Open - A Tribute to Tom Petty.  A night dedicated to celebrating the late Tom Petty and his numerous contributions to Rock n Roll.  Doors open at 7:15pm.  (Casino Regina).

 (June 12-16th)  JazzFest Regina.  This annual event is intended to introduce the world of Jazz in all its forms to the city’s many residents.  The multi-day event will give all of Regina the opportunity to see and hear some of the best Jazz music available today.  For more information visit (http://jazzregina.ca).

 (June 6)  The Louisiana Hay Ride Show.  Come join the fun and help the lovable cast of the Louisiana Hayride Show celebrate 10 years of touring this show across western Canada! You’ll hear the best country and rockabilly hits from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s as they pay tribute to the historical radio program, The Louisiana Hayride with past favourites and new classics!  The show starts at 7:30pm.  (Regina Preforming Arts Centre).

 (June 12-15)  Marjorie Prime. A thinker’s play, with a touch of weirdness and a fair amount of comedy. It’s the age of artificial intelligence, and 85-year-old Marjorie — a jumble of disparate, fading memories — has a new companion who’s programmed to feed the story of her life back to her.  Show starts at 7:30pm.  (Regina Preforming Arts Centre).

 (June 27)  The ABBA Show.  Direct from Australia, and following more than 5000 international shows, the world’s premier live ABBA tribute – The ABBA Show – is coming to town! Far from being ‘just another cover band’, The ABBA Show is a full-scale theatrical production featuring 2.5 hours of live musical performances, a live backing band, replica costumes, theatrical lighting and effects and all the dancing an ABBA fan can handle. Doors open at 7:15pm.  (Casino Regina).

 (June 28).  Joe McHale.  Joel McHale is one of the most sought after comedians and actors in the industry. Most recently he can be seen in THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS and played former Community co-star Chevy Chase, in Netflix’s A FUTILE & STUPID GESTURE opposite Will Forte.  Doors open at 6:15pm.  (Casino Regina).

 Food + Drink Events in Regina

 (June 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29) Supper in the Orchard.  Every Friday and Saturday starting in May a different local chef will create a multi-course supper using mainly ingredients from local farms and our orchard.  Most of the proceeds goes back to the Culinary Federation which sends their members to locations around the world for training and for competitions. The evening starts on the outdoor patio (weather permitting) where you can enjoy a glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage, and enjoy the outdoors and beautiful view of the valley. The night starts at 6pm.  (Over the Hill Orchards and Winery, Lumsden).

 Sports, Recreation, and Leisure Events in Regina

 (June 1) Shoppers LOVE.  You. Run for Woman.  We Walk and Run So Others Can Take the Next Step The SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU Run for Women is a 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run and Little Steps 1K taking place in 17 cities across Canada. The Shoppers LOVE. YOU. Run for Women supports Family Service Regina’s Art for the Heart program. The program promotes emotional well-being for women who are in need of healing due to trauma; it allows for therapeutic self-expression through creative arts and crafts.  (TC Douglas Place)

 (June 1)  Navy Bike Ride.  The Navy Bike Ride’s aims are to promote physical fitness, connect with the local communities. This fun family event is open to cyclists of all skill levels and all ages, including beginners. It’s a non-competitive ride that will take cyclists on a closed circuit around Regina. Bike trailers, child seats and trailer cycles are welcome so even the littlest members of the family can join in!  Event runs from 10am - 12pm.  (HMCS Queen - 100 Navy Way).

 (June 2)  Regina Riot vs Saskatoon Valkyries.  Cheer on the Riot during the final home game of the season.  Game starts at 2pm.  (Mosaic Stadium).

  (June 6)  Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Winnipeg Bluebomers. Watch the Riders take on the Bluebombers in pre-season action.  Games starts at 7pm.  (Mosaic Stadium).

 (June 15)  Queen City Blitz.  The Queen City Blitz Flag Football Tournament in support of Special Olympics Saskatchewan is back! Register your team of up to 10 for this official 5-on-5 Coed Flag Football Tournament! Each team receives a 3-game guarantee, lunch, and swag! Plus, prizes for the highest fundraising team and winning teams!  (Mosaic Stadium).

 (June 15)  Light up the Lake.  Our second Light up the Lake in Saskatchewan! This is an awesome evening 5K Run/Walk around Wascana Lake. Headlamps, hot chocolate and medals for all!! A great event for any ability and any age. Meet at the Queen Elizabeth II West Lawn between 8pm and 8:30pm.  (Legislative Building).

 Family Events in Regina

 (June 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26, 29) Regina Farmer’s Market. Enjoy a lovely morning outdoors in the City Square Plaza downtown Regina. Check out a variety of vendors including individuals and businesses that make, bake, grow, or design their products right here in Saskatchewan. Watch downtown Regina come alive with the hustle and bustle or locals and visitors enjoying fresh local products! (City Square Plaza - Downtown).

 (June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)  Centennial Market.  Indoor market located in the heart of the Warehouse District with over a hundred vendors.  (1230 Broad Street).

 (June 1-2)  Victoria Tea.  Since 1991, Victorian teas are a long-held tradition at Government House. Hosted by the Government House Historical Society in the Henry Newlands Ballroom, they offer a unique setting for this time-honoured tradition. Tea times are June 1st and 2nd at 1 PM and 2:30 PM both days.  (Government House).

 (June 9)  Bike Roadeo.  Join us for our Bike Roadeo presented by SGI! Grab your bike and come see the SGI Safety Squad at the RCMP Heritage Centre for bike and helmet inspections, bike games, safety trivia, prizes, and more!  This free event runs from 11am - 5pm.  (RCMP Heritage Centre).

 

(June 15)  Bazaart.  Come and join the largest art show in all of Saskatchewan. Bazaart showcases lots of items and goods such as pieces of art from local and Canadian artists as well as authentic food prepared by local businesses in Regina. Also enjoy art activities inside the BMO Learning Centre.  The event runs from 10am-5pm.  (Mackenzie Art Gallery).

(June 19 - 21)  Farm Progress Show.  The only place you can see the latest and greatest in precision agriculture equipment and technology! Located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada’s Farm Progress Show connects local producers and international customers with the latest in dry-land farming equipment, technology and innovation.  (Evraz Place).

 (June 29) Water Lantern Festival.  Take part in the Water Lantern Festival coming to Wascana Lake in Regina. Event includes food trucks and music from 6:30-9:30. 9:30-10:30 release your creative side as you will need to design a lantern to launch over the lake. Release your lantern along with everyone else at the lake and bask in the beauty of thousands of lanterns above the lake in the moonlight. 10:30-11:30.  (Wascana Lake).
