Community Events in Regina this May 2019

There is a lot happening in and around Regina this May.  The weather is getting nicer and it is the perfect time to get out with the family and experience our great city. 

Event Highlight - Mosaic a Festival of Cultures

When: Thursday May 30 to Saturday June 1

Price: Passports are $15 for Adults and $10 for Kids and Seniors.

Take a trip around the world without leaving Regina.  At each Pavilion you will be able to experience the food, dance, and culture from 19 different countries.  From Greece to the Ukraine, or from Korea to India there is so much to enjoy and learn.

Concerts and Performances in Regina

(May 3) Thomas Rhett - Life Changes Tour. Country singer Thomas Rhett is coming to Regina with special guest Dustin Lynch. The concert starts at 7:30pm. (Brandt Centre).

(May 4) Regina Symphony Orchestra presents Shumiatcher Pops: Canadian Brass.  Uniquely engaging, humorous, unforgettable. Canadian Brass, the world's most famous brass ensemble, joins the RSO for a concert with music ranging from classical to blues and more!  The show starts at 8pm.  (Conexus Arts Centre).

(May 5) Rock of Ages. ROCK OF AGES allows fans to rock out once again to their favorite ‘80s hits. Featuring the music of iconic bands such as Styx, Poison, Twisted Sister, and Whitesnake among many others, this Tenth Anniversary production features a dynamic new cast revisiting the larger than life characters and exhilarating story that turned ROCK OF AGES into a global phenomenon.  The show starts at 7:30pm.  (Conexus Arts Centre).

(May 11)  Regina Symphony Orchestra presents Masterworks: The Planets.  Experience Holst's magnificent planetary suite in a celebration of 110 years of your RSO! Regina's own Meagan Milatz joins the RSO for a performance of David McIntyre's Piano Concerto, as does the SSYO in a once in a lifetime concert experience!   The show starts at 8pm.  (Conexus Arts Centre).

(May 12)  John Fogerty: My 50 Year Trip.  John Fogerty is playing his iconic Creedence Clearwater Revival hits and more.  Show starts at 7:30pm.  (Brandt Centre).

(May 16)  The Debators LIVE on tour.  This is a comedy stage show where comics go toe to toe in a battle of laughs and logic and the audience picks a winner.  Doors open at 7:15pm.  (Casino Regina).

(May 21)  Alessia Cara - The Pains of Growing Tour.  2018’s “Best New Artist” Grammy Award Winning Canadian singer/songwriter and Def Jam Recordings artist Alessia Cara emerged onto the music scene in 2015 with her global anthem “Here.”  Show starts at 7:30pm.  (Conexus Arts Centre).

(May 22)  John Cleese: Why There is No Hope.  Come spend a hilarious evening with the “One and Only” John Cleese. John is a legendary comedic actor best known for: “Monty Python’s Flying Circus,” “Fawlty Towers,” and “A Fish Called Wanda.” “The world’s funniest man” first made his mark as a member of the legendary Monty Python troupe in the 1960s.  Show starts at 7:30pm.  (Conexus Arts Centre).

Food + Drink Events in Regina

(May 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31) Supper in the Orchard.  Every Friday and Saturday starting in May a different local chef will create a multi-course supper using mainly ingredients from local farms and our orchard.  Most of the proceeds goes back to the Culinary Federation which sends their members to locations around the world for training and for competitions. The evening starts on the outdoor patio (weather permitting) where you can enjoy a glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage, and enjoy the outdoors and beautiful view of the valley. The night starts at 6pm.  (Over the Hill Orchards and Winery, Lumsden).

(May 11)  High Heels & High Hopes.  This event includes entertainment from premier drag queens visiting from across North America, a fabulous dinner provided by the Ramada Plaza, with dinner entertainment being provided by Mr. Nick Faye.  All proceeds from the evening go to the Carmichael Outreach Imagine Initiative.  The show starts at 5pm.  (Ramada Plaza - 1818 Victoria Avenue).

(May 12)  Mother’s Day Tea.  Join us this Mother’s Day for our Tea and Market! Enjoy coffee, tea, and dainties, and explore the market of amazing local vendors! Event is subject to regular priced admission, and includes food and beverage, entrance to market and galleries, and one raffle entry.  Regular admission rates apply.  Event runs from 11am to 5pm.  (RCMP Heritage Centre).

(May 14)  The Scotch Experience with Matt Jones.  A scotch tasting experience like no other! Kickstart the evening with a unique whiskey cocktail, then explore six different scotch whiskies paired with a full five-course dinner. Matt Jones, your host for the evening, travels across Canada preaching the gospel of whiskey and spreading his love of the Beam Suntory family of whiskies, including Bourbon, Canadian, Irish and now Scotch and Japanese Whiskey.  Event starts at 6:30pm.  (Casino Regina).

Sports, Recreation, and Leisure Events in Regina

(May 4) Monster Spectacular. Monster Spectacular, the ultimate sports and entertainment spectacle mixing racing, showmanship and the ultimate fan experience into one incredible, action packed live show, announced that it will roar into Regina.  The event starts at 7pm.  (Brandt Centre).

(May 5)  Regina Riot vs Manitoba Fearless.  Watch Regina’s elite-level women’s tackle football team in action. Game starts at 2pm.  (Mosaic Stadium).

(May 11)  2019 Royal Road Race. This is Saskatchewan’s Premier race, providing the unique opportunity to run within Canada’s RCMP Training Academy, Depot Division in Regina.  This is a 5km and 10km race where all finishes will be awarded with Hillberg & Berk sparkle ball earring. The race starts at 9am.  (RCMP Academy - Depot Division).

(May 18 - 19)  Saskatchewan Highland Games.  The Saskatchewan Highland Gathering & Celtic Festival incorporates older Highland Games events in Regina and Moose Jaw that have been running since the early 20th century! Pipers, drummers, dancers, heavy events athletes, and enthusiasts from all over Western Canada come to southern Saskatchewan each year on the May long weekend to participate in this exciting line-up of events.  (Victoria Park)

Adult Events in Regina

(May 4)  The Bad Boy of Hypnosis - Dave Curran.  Dave reinvents comedy hypnosis and delivers an energizing evening in which nothing is censored.  Doors open at 7:15pm.  (Casino Regina).

(May 9) Saskatchewan Firefighters Calendar Selection Night.  Help pick the Firefighters for the 2020 Saskatchewan Firefighters Calendar.  Firefighters from across the province will be battling it out for one of 12 spots.  100% of the proceeds go to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.  The show starts at 7:30pm.  (Casino Regina).

(May 9 - 11).  Sask Fashion Week. SFW showcases a combination of artist collaborations, fashion design, film, and music.  Don’t miss the final year!  (The Soundstage - 1831 College Ave.).

Family Events in Regina

(May 4, 11, 18, 25) Regina Farmer’s Market.  The Farmer’s Market is continuing indoors.  Great local products including: baking, produce, crafts, and other great idea.  Doors open at 9am. (Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre).

(May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26)  Centennial Market.  Indoor market located in the heart of the Warehouse District with over a hundred vendors.  (1230 Broad Street).

(May 4 - 5)  Victoria Tea.  Since 1991, Victorian teas are a long-held tradition at Government House. Hosted by the Government House Historical Society in the Henry Newlands Ballroom, they offer a unique setting for this time-honoured tradition.  Tea time is at 1pm and 2:30pm.  (Government House).

(May 10 - 11) 2019 Saskatchewan Pet Expo.  Whether you're a pet lover, pet parent or thinking about adopting a new family member, the Saskatchewan Pet Expo is an event you won't want to miss! Enjoy pony rides, petting zoos, goat yoga and much more!  Expo is open 2pm - 9pm on the 10th and 9am - 4pm on the 11th. (Evraz Place).

(May 11) Prairie Game Expo - Free Board Gaming Day.  PGX is a free board gaming day that is welcoming to existing players and people new to gaming. This is an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to meet and greet and enjoy designer board games, miniature games, family games, and role-playing games.  The event runs from 9am to 9pm.  (Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre).

(May 16)  Handmade Saskatchewan Night Market.  Featuring Regina’s best homemade vendors.  Enjoy local produce, jewellery, arts, crafts, food, and more!  Doors open at 5pm.  (Local Market - 1377 Hamilton Street).

(May 18 - 20)  Zip in Summer Event.  Head out to the Outer Edge Adventure Park for the Big Zipper Zipline Tour Season Opener.  Big Zipper tours are $60/rider + GST.  (Outer Edge Adventure Park, Hwy 20, Lumsden).
